Questo comeback è una vera discaesa in battaglia. Girls Like Me è l’esplosiva traccia che lancia il suo quarto mini-album, P.M.S. [Pretty Mood Swings] – il suo primo EP in cinque anni, e segna il primo vagito della sua nuova era da artista completamente indipendente.

Questo album arriva dopo un periodo professionale a dir poco tumultuoso per Jessi, segnato prima dalla sua chiacchierata uscita dalla P NATION di Psy e poi dalla recente e improvvisa separazione dalla MORE VISION di Jay Park. Ora, Jessi è il capo di sé stessa e pubblica musica sotto la sua etichetta personale, UNNI.

Questo chiarisce il riferimento nel suo post su Instagram al suo “luogo più buio” (“darkest place”). È un ringraziamento diretto al produttore KizKeyz (un nome da classifica Billboard che ha lavorato anche con TXT e aespa), che, come scrive lei, “mi ha trovata nel mio momento più buio, mi ha spinta e ha portato la mia musica alla luce“. Lo definisce “il produttore all-arounder più talentuoso” con cui abbia mai lavorato, sottolineando l’importanza di questa collaborazione per la sua rinascita.

E il testo? È pura essenza di Jessi. Come ha scritto lei stessa, “Questa è per ogni donna che sia mai stata chiamata ‘too much’“.
